BANGER RACING KICKS OF 2019
Team 4-Banger Racing Recap: LEMOORE, Calif. (March 18, 2019) -> Team 4-Banger Racing kicked off the 2019 Central Valley Mini Stock Circuit present by House of JuJu Saturday Night at Lemoore Raceway with Ryan Blank (88), Scott Glenn (67), Ben Davis (04), and Dan Myrick (18x) behind the wheel.
Coming into the season opener it was an 'expect the unexpected' kind of vibe for the team, as no one quite knew what lied ahead and who brought what to the table for the new season. Despite the unknown factor the team carried confidence into the opener.
"I've saved all my luck for the racetrack," said Dan Myrick, with a chuckle. "It's been a long off-season and I'm ready to get out on the track and see how it all unfolds. My teammates and I are grateful to our sponsors House of JuJu, Napa West, Myrick's High Caliber Salsa, and Jake Miller Hay for making this season a possibility for 4Banger Racing."
Right out of the gate the team showed speed in qualifying. Ben Davis was the fastest of the teammates running third Quick with a 15.264 and advancing to the trophy dash. After a hard battle with the other top four qualifiers, he brought the 04 home third.
Dan Myrick narrowly missed the trophy dash by landing 5th Quick with a 15.3 flat. Scott Glenn took home 6th quick and Ryan Blank landed 9th Quick on the charts. Following qualifying it was time for heat race action.
Dan Myrick was the only 4-Banger entry in heat one and he went strait to battle. It was an intense wheel to wheel dogfight between he and Quick time driver Darren Wilson. But it would be Wilson who took the upper hand and beat Myrick to the stripe leaving him to settle for 2nd.
The other three 4-Banger entries all found themselves in heat three. Two teammates, Ryan Blank and Scott Glenn ended up having their own battle at the front of the pack finishing with a side by side photo finish. Glenn took the win over Blank and Ben Davis finished fourth in the heat.
After all of the preliminary action it was time for the race that all of 4-Banger racing had been waiting for since last October- the first main event of 2019. Coming into the main Ben Davis stared 2nd, Dan Myrick 4th, Scott Glenn 7th, and Ryan Blank 10th. It was time to go racing.
As the green flag dropped Ben Davis showed some serious speed as he battled at the front. Dan Myrick was moving forward better than he had all night. Scott Glenn and Ryan Blank began to freight train toward the front of the pack as well. Things were moving along nicely for the 4-Banger racing team.
Early troubles bunched the field back up and allowed for the gaps to evaporate. As the main event got into a rhythm the 4-Banger entries that started the furthest back had made the most headway. Ryan Blank and Scott Glenn carried their momentum to the front where the entire 4-Banger team had one serious battle. Blank and Glenn were both able to pass teammates Dan Myrick and Ben Davis. Myrick later realized he had a flat tire, and Ben Davis had troubles late in the going leading to his DNF in the season opener.
When the checkered flag waved it was Ryan Blank who overcame the biggest comeback climbing all the way to a podium finish with his last lap pass of Jeff Durant to earn third. Myrick and Glenn continued their battle all the way to the stripe with Glenn earning 5th and Myrick 6th. Ben Davis earned 12th place after his unfortunate DNF.
Round one has came and gone for 4-Banger racing. The next time they will be in action is at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, California for Round 2 of the Central Valley Mini Stock Circuit presented by House of JuJu on April 19th.
