4 Banger Racing
Race Report 4-20-2019
Keller Auto Speedway at Kings Fairgrounds- Hanford, CA

The 4 Banger Racing boys went out to Hanford Speedway to compete in Race #2 of the House of JuJu 2019 Central Valley Mini Stocks Circuit. The team started the day down one car and had a driver change in another. The 04 car was sold to a new CVMS driver and has a happy new home. The 67 car normally piloted by Scott Glenn had a guest driver take the wheel as Glenn had prior family commitments to fulfill. 2018 CVMS Champion Greg Baronian stepped in for Glenn and represented the team well. Ryan Blank in the 88, Dan Myrick in the 18X, and Greg Baronian in the 67 showed Hanford and the CVMS field that the 4 Banger Racing team is serious in 2019.

The Race Day started off with a hot lap and qualifying session. The 18X of Myrick checked in at second quick in the twenty-four car field with a 21.023 seconds around the 3/8 mile clay oval. Baronian picked up right where he left of in 2018, knocking the dust off right out of the gate to qualify the 67 car third quick, with a lap of 21.050. Ryan Blank in the 88 struggled with a handling issue but logged in a lap at 21.933 seconds to put him in the thirteenth spot.
Blank would take the tack first for heat races in Heat #1. The 88 car started outside second row. Heat #1 had many comers and goers, but Blank was able to keep out of harms way and improve one spot to finish 3rd in the six lap heat race. Myrick was in Heat #2 starting in the back row with six cars in front of him. Myrick would have a mechanical failure in the engine and end up with a DNF taking 6th position in Heat #2. Baronian represented the team in Heat #3 and represented them well. Baronian started outside back row with seven cars to pass in six laps. Baronian was able to run high and low on the track and passed cars with ease on his way to the Heat #3 win.

The stage was being set for the Main Event with twenty-two cars lining up to take the green flag. 4 Banger Racing held down the second row with Baronian starting 3rd, and Myrick starting 4th. Blank was 6 rows back on the inside starting 11th. The green flag waived, and the boys got after it. Baronian and Myrick had good battles up front with Jean Glover, and Randy Brown Sr. The race had one yellow flag on lap 1, then went 19 laps straight of green flag racing, all the way to the checkered flag. The race leader Jason Cook set a blistering fast pace, and was just to far ahead for anyone to real in. Myrick finished 2nd and was 2.280 seconds behind the leader at the line. Blank was able to fix his handling issues and raced his way up to 4th position. Baronian placed the 67 in the 6th place finishing spot and was able to keep the car clean for the car’s regular driver, Glenn. The team finished 2, 4, 6 and will study up for the next visit to Hanford Speedway on June 1st.

After the great team finish at Hanford, the 2019 House of JuJu CVMS championship points race has a new 1st and 2nd place in the standings. Myrick and Blank are 1-2 in points! Baronian has been invited to join the 4 Banger Racing Team and has entered the 2019 HOJJ/CVMS points race and is currently 9th with Scott Glenn in 10th. Look for a new “blue” car to hit the track soon as Baronian joins up with the team. Catch the team next at Lemoore Raceway May 18th. Come out and support the team see some great racing.
